Windfall Farms is 143 acres of beautiful, preserved farmland. For more than 40 years Morse Pitts has been growing over 500 varieties of unconventionally grown, specialty produce never involving the use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. The items grown here are completely natural and thrive in a harmonious ecosystem.
Having spent the last few decades on the FCAC board and attending the New York City Union Square Greenmarkets, Morse Pitts has decided it’s time for retirement. “I’d like to to work only 40 hours” states Morse. His plan for retirement is to purchase a small farm in the Northeast region and to continue growing simply for the love of farming.
During his tenure, Morse has mentored many new farmers giving them the support, space and freedom to learn agricultural operations and create their own path in the farming world with the hope that they continue on farming no matter where they go. Morse has shared his unique and innovative style of farming knowledge with many to ensure that the agriculture world stays rich with the important understanding of no spray farms.
Now, the families next generation, Lisa Barone and Mike Nelson are stepping up, and they have added a special, custom touch by creating value added products and confections infused with ingredients straight from the farm. Both long standing professional Chefs, this couple knew including a culinary aspect to the farm would be the way to increase sustainability and provide more products to food deserts. With a focus on lowering waste and helping provide more accessibility to fresh produce in Catskills & New York city locations where there is scarcity, or disproportionate access.
It is our mission to serve the state of New York as farm stewards with the highest quality level of produce, and goods with ethical and environmentally forward thinking. To promote the importance of the agricultural and culinary industries and the positive impact they provide to the surrounding communities.
“Everyone should have accessibility to fresh foods, and be given the tools to utilize them”
To the next generation of Windfall Farms!
